Well, I’m here. It’s been almost three months and I haven’t really done any creative writing since I got here because I’m afraid I’ll have a meltdown and I’ll start missing people from back home, L especially. Dropping a line just to say that I’m alive over here where it’s cold and windy. Have so many things going on, I don’t even know how to begin recounting what has transpired since September. It’s been all good so far, the highs outweigh the lows. Great academic discourse (although, as expected, quite Eurocentric), wide open spaces for walking around the city ala De Certeau, and fantastic people all around. I’m getting by with my moolah, I think I’m sort of getting used to the currency, but it’s true that living here can be so fucking expensive. The cost of cigs is practically extortion. So let me end this quick post with a few adjectives that people here use a lot: brilliant, bloody, massive, fuck, and this greeting/interjection: cheers.
